The moment-generating function (MGF) of the exponential distribution
My video tutorial on YouTube
Moment-generating function (MGFs) are useful tools in mathematical statistics. You can use them to obtain the expected value and the variance of a random variable, especially if it is difficult to derive them directly from their definitions. In this YouTube video, I show how to obtain the MGF of a random variable from the exponential distribution.
In this video, I call myself The Chemical Statistician. That is the name of my (former) blog, where I wrote about statistics, chemistry, and career development. I have paused writing and posting videos as The Chemical Statistician indefinitely, and I am devoting my full attention to this current newsletter, The Data Copywriter.
I also mentioned a Twitter account with the handle @chemstateric. For now, I am using LinkedIn as my main platform for social media, and I am not active on Twitter.
